All Good Things Must Come to an End

And so, our Utah trip has come to an end.
I can't believe it came and went as fast as it did! I mean, geesh, I was there for a month and it didn't feel long enough. I cried on the plane when we landed in Utah, and I cried on the plane as we flew out of Utah. People assure me it will get easier, and that one day when I fly into Texas after being away I'll get that same "home" feeling..... I'm skeptical, we'll see!

On the other hand, don't let Ty's face fool you here. He was more than ready and happy to be going home. He loved the visit, but he already has a tender little spot in his heart for the Lone Star State.

Our flight home did have one fun turn of events. As we were boarding our connecting flight in Arizona, one of the pilots saw the boys and told them to go visit Bill in the cock pit.
So, we did.

Below is a picture of the boys with Bill.
The Stewardess at the front of the plane said she'd keep an eye on the them while I found our seats (It's Southwest, so you know, if you delay you won't have a seat by each other).

When I found Ty and told him where the boys were, we just looked at each other and laughed because we could just hear them up there. "How does that work? What does this do? Are we going to leave on time? How close are we to the sun when we fly? How long have you been flying planes? Do people look like ants from the sky? What will happen if you push that button".

Just after the last few people had boarded the plane, we hear Eric's voice over the PA. He says, "Hey mom and dad, I want to fly a plane!".

The Stewardess brought the boys back and said, "They sure had a lot of questions up there!". Yes, that'd be my stud-ly bud-ly's! I'm surprised they even got them out of the cock pit, and back to their seats! You can't help but love 'em!

Fat Lip

Check out that top lip...

Eric fell at Grandma Riley's and got a fat lip. Not only did he get a fat lip, but with the way his mouth collided with the edge of a wood frame he also had about an inch and a half of gum tissue that was torn and flapping above his four front teeth. Yep, that's right. You'd pull up his top lip and the gum tissue would come with it exposing some bone and the roots of his teeth!

Now, I've worked for many years in various dental offices and this STILL gave me the heebie-jeebies! Luckily, the mouth heals very quickly. We went home to Gucci's, tucked this cute little face into bed, and by morning the gum tissue had started to reattach itself back to the bone.

Ahhh! How do I spell relief?
N-O S-T-I-C-H-E-S!

Disneyland Party!

Grandma Gucci turned 60 years old this year. To celebrate her birthday she decided to save her pennies and fly the family to DISNEYLAND! And when I say "fly" us to Disneyland, that also means pay for our hotels, park hoppers, food, different t-shirts and clothes for while we're there, AND some spending money.... um, count us IN.... but isn't this your birthday? Aren't WE supposed to be planning the party for YOU?

Here is her table all decorated for her party!

Inside those bags were our t-shirts and pajama's. We have a different theme or character for every day we're there.

Talmage decided to help Gucci with her decorations.
Here is what he came up with....

Christopher Robbin hanging by a noose! He didn't intend it to be so morbid. He actually thought it looked like he was flying! Oh, to be so young and innocent that someone hanging by a rope tied around their neck means they are enjoying a spontaneous moment of flight!
Gucci said that Christopher could remain "hanging out" with us for the party.

The "young-ins".

Talmage was very excited to sit at the "old-ones" table for this party at Gucci's house.

Yay! Disneyland! Tyler and I are excited!

Hooray, Gucci!

Great and Maidie.

Old Willem got a hold of an ice water and mistakenly poured it right over his head. Brrrrr! Poor little buddy!

Maidie and Adessa.

John and Ashley.

Shandon

Gucci with some happy Disneyland recipients.

A New Hobby

Once again, I take you back to the beautiful city of Salt Lake as we continue our vacation there. On this beautiful August 6th Thursday, we accompanied Dode and Shannon to a shooting range in West Valley City.

The Sauce-inator was able to come with us.

Apparently, Ty owns a .22 rifle that I've never known about. It was tucked snuggly away at his mom's house until it was unearthed and cleaned by his little brother.

For a couple of years now, I've been trying to convince Ty to let me get my concealed weapons permit so I can pack a little heat. I wouldn't carry a gun in my purse or anything, but I don't think it's a bad idea to know how to operate a fire arm and have a way to defend yourself if the need arises. He's not been a big advocate of the idea so I haven't forged ahead.

Here are Shannon, Ty and Dode setting up our targets.

Little Sauce was a good shot. He was very accurate.

We shot the .22 rifle and that was fun, but my favorite part of the shooting range was firing my father-in-laws shot gun at clay pigeons. I think there's something hot about my husband holding and using a shot gun. I'll have to admit..... I wasn't turned off.

My father-in-law bought his shot gun when he was 16 years old. It was the first major purchase with his own money. He named the gun, "meat-in-the-pot". I kept getting mixed up and calling it, "meat-and-potatoes".

Talmage was our official "puller" (I guess "pusher" would be a better name for him) to release the clay pigeons. He loved his position of POWER!

"PULL"!

BAM!

It was a rush when you'd actually hit your target and see the clay pigeon decimated. I think we've found a new hobby for us.

Also, on this outing, Talmage discovered that ear plugs have mulitple uses......

My first experience at a shooting range was really quite fun. So much fun, that I've asked Ty for a shot gun for Christmas. He decided to see if his mom could pack up his .22 rifle and bring it with her when she comes for Thanksgiving hoping this will satiate me..... we'll see.

Sharing Fire with Friends

This is Lance. He is one of Tyler's High School friends. By coincidence we ran into him and his wife, Sara, seven years ago waiting in line to see the movie, "How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days". Lance and Tyler hadn't seen each other in years and I'd never met Sara, but we sat by them at the show and have been great friends ever since.

Sara-baby. She and Lance really enjoy the University of Utah's football, I mean REALLY enjoy it! Don't mess with their "UTES"!

Our boys, Eric and Caden, were born only a few months apart. They both went to Jacque's preschool together last year and it was really hard on Eric when we moved away and he had to leave his friend.

On Tuesday, August 3rd, we had them up to Gucci's house to have dinner and to make some s'mores. Besides a little wind, it was a beautiful night.
Sara and Lance have two boys, Harrison and Caden.

As a mom, nothing tickles me like seeing my kids happy. Talmage is REALLY happy in this picture! Happy Talmage = happy mom!

It was a great, relaxing night. Summer evenings in Utah are the best! The kids could run wild and crazy in the back yard giving the adults some time to visit and catch up! It's hard knowing we only have one night to spend with some of our favorite people, I guess I should be grateful that we at least have that.... right? We love you guys!
