The Progressive Dinner

Our friends, Spencer and Shane, invited us over to their place for dinner on one of the nights Tyler arrived. Spencer took care of the decor while Shane prepared the meal. Spencer had decorated a beautiful table in their back yard... unfortunately it started raining so we had to move the dinner inside. Luckily, I took this picture of Spencer and his beautiful table before the rain came. He had even put up tea lights in the back ground to create some ambiance.

We arrived at 5:00 pm and after our "hello's" Shane went to work. Our dinner had a Mediterranean theme and he started us off with a marinated chicken and sun-dried tomato bruschetta appetizer that was amazing!

After our appetizers, Shane sets to work on the main course. Shane has recently discovered that he quite likes cooking and trying new recipe's. Some people just have a "knack" with food. They can read a recipe and add their own uniqueness to it. Shane is one of those people, and Ty and I were the happy recipients this night!

Dinner is finally ready around 8:00 pm. That was one of the greatest parts of the evening. We were not in any rush, we sat, drank our grape juice, and chatted while Shane prepared our meal. We kicked back and just really enjoyed each other's company.

Shane served a marinated chicken and red pepper skewer with a caprese salad. It was delicious!

The only accident Shane had that night did not happen in the kitchen, it happened in the dining room from one of the chairs Spencer snagged from a photo shoot. That chair cut his finger wide open, luckily dinner was through!

It was now 10:30 pm and time for my favorite part of any meal, dessert! Shane had prepared a chocolate mousse using tofu, in fact, our whole meal was organic. As he was preparing to serve his chocolate masterpiece, he pulled out their whipped cream from the fridge and it was
E-M-P-T-Y!

Because Spencer and I understand that presentation is everything, we quickly made a run to the "ghetto" Smith's and bought some more. Yay, dessert is saved!

Chocolate mousse topped with fresh strawberries and blueberries, a little piece of heaven on earth if I do say so myself!

After dinner we played our favorite game together, And It Came To Pass. That's my idea of a perfect evening. A little food, a little chocolate dessert, great friends, and a good game.

And as my parting gift, Spencer tied his green center piece ribbon in my hair. Look how well it matches my shirt, it was like we coordinated or something! I love when a party comes together!
