Pepper Le Pew

September 30, 2011
Let me just start by saying that I NEVER wanted a dog.
I still don't want a dog (even though Tyler doesn't believe me).
My friend Rachelle said it best when she was talking about having pets,
"why would I want to pick up poop that is optional?".
I agree.
That being said I was tag teamed by Tyler and his boss, Eric.
On a fine September afternoon they showed up at our house, and Eric was holding this.....

Now I have to admit, she is quite cute, but she's a dog, and I don't want a dog. A dog is like another kid. You have to play with it, feed it, take it to the doctor, clean up its stinky little presents around the house until its potty trained, walk around telling it "no" as it chews up the couch, the kids shoes, and wood cabinets. Why would a sane person want the added responsibility/STRESS? Oh, and did I mention that our entire family (excluding Maidie) is allergic to dogs? Yep, just another reason to add to the "no dog" list.

But, what do you say to your husbands boss who has so generously purchased this little creature for you and your family? It was awkward. I said, "hell no" to Tyler when Eric gave us a few minutes to discuss his offering, but in the end we decided to keep the dog through the weekend to decide.
That was a big mistake....

The kids fell in love with the dog. And after a WW III argument that ensued between me and Tyler while we "attempted" to watch General Conference, a conversation with my mom calmed me, and led me to the realization that once, maybe just this once, I should let it go....
and so I did. Now we are the owners of a cute little Pomapoo named Pepper.
I call her Pepper Le Pew, because she's a dog, and she stinks, like most dogs do.
Tyler calls her Pepper Ann. My middle name is Ann. What's he getting at?
She IS cute, and she IS a nice little dog. But... I still don't want a dog...

Pink Hair, a Big Bruise, and a Beautiful Texas Sky

So, I've been a little behind on my blogging. I've decided that instead of creating our family scrapbooks out of the traditional paper and stickers, I'm going to "blurb" my blog and have it be our family's memory keeper. That being said, I am going back through pictures from September.

Here are a few of Miss. Mae after she came home from our neighbor Camila's house. Camila had been watching Maidie for us, I don't remember what we had going on, but I do remember Ty calling me and saying, "Maidie had a great time at Camila's house today. Emily found some pink spray on hair color and decided to give Maidie a make-over." I think that's fabulous! All I ever ask of people who watch my children is that they keep them alive and safe!
Pink hair = cute, happy Maidie.
Luckily, it's always on our own watch that misfortune happens. After she came home she ran straight into a wall. Ouch! That's going to leave a mark.

On a happier note, check out the sky on this fine September evening! I miss the sunsets in Utah... I haven't seen the likes of them here in Texas, but this night sky was coming close. Beautiful!

Disneyland; Day 5

Day five begins with a little game of hide and seek with Miss. Mae.
Where, oh where, could she be?
How many places are there to hide in a hotel room?
At last! She is found!
She's been hiding in the closet!

We start off day five in style, by having breakfast at the Storyteller's Cafe.

At breakfast we were met by someone dressed up as some... thing. Apparently I'm a little rusty on my vintage Disney movie characters, maybe I'll have to ask around.

I do remember that this is Chip...

I want to call this one, Br'er Bear... maybe the other guy is Br'er Fox...?

Then we were greeted by Kenai and Koda from Brother Bear.

We even had a staff member ask us if we'd like her to take a picture of our whole family together. Of course we did! But wait, where's Shannon?

Luckily, Shannon showed up in time to take another picture with everyone!

Check out Granny Great on the Tower of Terror with us! That Great, she's always up for a thrill.

The last time the Pearson clan went to Disneyland together was right before Sheldon's mission. During that trip Sheldon was able to hold on to a lamp post and lift his body so that he was perpendicular to the light fixture, I asked if he could still perform this trick.... and.... he could! Go Dode!

On the last day we let the kids pick out their souvenirs. We made them wait until the last day because they changed their minds several times a day as to what they'd want. In the end they chose these two hats; Talmage chose Jack Sparrow, and Eric chose the Mad Hatter.

Here we are at the airport ready to fly home. Our trip from Gucci was fabulous! It was great to be with Ty's family in Disneyland. All 18 of us got along splendidly! When you live apart from your family you learn to really appreciate each other, and value the time that you have together! We will never forget the memories we made on this trip.

Disneyland; Day 4

Day four in Disneyland started with an early-bird entrance into Toon Town.
The Toon Town characters were there early to take pictures with us!

Maidie wanted to hit the Small World ride, this time, she was awake!

We had heard that there was a Jedi Training course here at Disneyland.
We camped out early before it began, in hopes that some of us would be chosen as future Jedi's.

As luck would have it, Talmage, Luke and Eric were all picked to take the Jedi Training course. They were all VERY excited!

Suddenly, Darth Vader appeared! Oh, no! It was time for our boys to channel their inner Jedi's to defeat Darth Vader and Darth Maul.

Whew! Our young Jedi's in training were able to defeat these villains. Hoo-ray!

Jedi graduation!

Look at these faces! Jedi training was a high light for them! They were all glowing with their defeat of the dark side!

A computer generated picture of an "old me". Nice!

For dinner we went to an all-you-can-eat barbecue place.
There was some live entertainment and they even asked for some volunteers to come
on stage and help with a line dance. Of course, the kids jumped at the chance
to be in the lime light... they are so humble... just like their parents!
